Message From Dr. Barber:

Congratulations on enrolling in Catechism I. This is an especially exciting course and I look forward to having you in class next quarter. In this course we talk about everything from the Church\'s teaching on the existence of God and the theology of the Trinity to creation and evolution and the nature of angels and demons (plus a lot more!).

There is a reading assignment which I expect you to finish for the first day of class. Please see this PDF containing the assignment and study questions. Most of the reading for the first session is found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You should already have a copy from previous courses. If not, you can find it on-line on many websites (e.g., here).

In addition, the part of the reading assignment that is not found in the Catechism (the article by John Cavadini) can be found here.

There will be an exam on the first session, so be sure to complete the assignment.

I look forward to having you in class next quarter. Studying the Catholic faith is a rich and rewarding experience. I hope that this course will leave a lasting impression on you and become one of the most memorable and enjoyable you take at JP Catholic. I will be working overtime with our team here to make the course as enjoyable and accessible as possible. Have a great, relaxing break!
