JPCatholic to begin Summer Quarter with Online Classes
San Diego County’s Health Officer no longer approves reopening of colleges and universities
June 16, 2020
John Paul the Great Catholic University Summer quarter classes will begin online on June 22nd. JPCatholic was excited when, on June 8, the San Diego County public health office (SDCPHO) issued a press-release announcing their approval for the reopening of colleges and universities as early as June 12. We immediately communicated this approval to our students and faculty.
However, the SDCPHO has now changed their public statement and in-person higher education classes are now not allowed at this time. The County is awaiting guidance from the State of California for the reopening of higher education.
This regulatory miscommunication is deeply disappointing to our students and faculty. Unfortunately, we have no idea when that will be. The University will implement our planned hybrid model as soon as the SDCPHO reissues their approval.
