Two Alumni Ordained to the Priesthood this Summer

On May 28th, Fr. Roni Schamoun (‘18) was ordained a priest in the Chaldean Catholic Rite by Bishop Emanuel Shaleta at St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in El Cajon. He is the seventh Chaldean seminarian who graduated from JPCatholic and went on to the priesthood, following others like Fr. Simon Esshaki and Fr. Ankido Sipo.

On June 19th, Fr. George German Perez, CJM (‘17) was ordained a priest by Bishop Robert McElroy at St. Patrick Parish in Carlsbad, CA. He belongs to the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, commonly referred to as the Eudists, and his first assignment is Associate Pastor at St. James-St. Leo Catholic Community in Solana Beach, CA.

Fr. George was raised in Los Angeles and trained as an electrical engineer. He was actively involved in youth ministry in the Diocese of San Diego for several years, serving multiple parishes. In 2014 he went to the Philippines for his Eudist Spiritual Year, and in 2017 he graduated from JPCatholic with his BA in Communications Media, Emphasis in New Evangelization. This spring he completed his Masters of Divinity from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, CA.
