JPCatholic Launches New Finance Emphasis in Business Program

The program will debut in Fall 2026 with a focus on real-world financial strategy, investing, and political economy.

John Paul the Great Catholic University (JPCatholic) is excited to announce a new Finance emphasis within our Bachelor of Science in Business, launching in Fall Quarter 2026. This emphasis will equip students with skills in wealth management, investing, corporate finance, and more, rooted in a Catholic understanding of business ethics.

With growing demand for values-driven leadership in the financial sector, the new emphasis reflects JPCatholic’s continued commitment to offering academically rigorous and industry-relevant programs.

Key new course offerings include:

  • Principles of Investing
  • Political Economy
  • Finance Practicum

Courses will be taught by experienced professionals with deep academic and industry credentials:

Prof. Steve Eggers brings over 25 years of executive experience as a CFO and Controller, alongside an extensive academic teaching background, having taught more than 400 courses in finance and accounting at both the undergraduate and MBA level for institutions including Webster University, CSU San Marcos, and University of Phoenix. He also served on the finance and accounting curriculum development team at University of Phoenix. He currently owns and operates two after-school children’s learning centers in North County San Diego with his wife.

Prof. Chris Lis offers a multidisciplinary perspective on finance, with three graduate degrees including an MPA from CSU Long Beach, an MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an MBA from Claremont Graduate University, where he is currently completing a PhD in public policy. Chris is a certified Capital Markets & Securities Analyst (CMSA©) and Financial Planning & Wealth Management Professional (FPWMP™). He is the founder of Fox Wealth Strategies, a registered investment adviser (RIA) where he works as a certified investment adviser representative (IAR).
