Our acting seniors have been busy in pre-production for their practicum projects! The Acting Practicum experience can take on a variety of formats including one-man shows, stage musicals, short films, and more. See a highlight of upcoming projects below:
The Last Five Years

ason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show's unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.

An Iliad
One-man Show

An Iliad is a modern-day retelling of Homer's epic. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War, and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller – possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps. He is fated to tell his story throughout history. Text by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare. Translation by Robert Fagles.

Created by Jeff Bower and Hunter Bell, [title of show] is a one-act musical that chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival. It follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends as they rush to create an original musical in the three weeks leading up to the festival.

liv laf luv inc.
Short Film

Olivia Holiday is the CEO of the lifestyle company liv laf luv inc. When her business partner (her own father) is suddenly arrested, Olivia must pick up the pieces of her formerly perfect life. Written by JPCatholic seniors Joe Donelson and Anna Engel, this short film explores themes of perfectionism, identity, and family.

My Guardian Dear

One summer night in 1943, an aircraft mechanic comes home to discover a Nazi spy has broken into her house with her younger sister alone inside. Now, she must risk everything to rescue her sister and ensure that they both make it out alive.
