The Liturgy of the Hours
The Liturgy of the Hours is the public prayer of the Church, and in her hierarchy the second highest prayer behind the Mass. Together they form the liturgical life of the Church. The Liturgy of the Hours, “because it is the public prayer of the Church, is a source of piety, and nourishment for personal prayer” (Sacrosanctum Concilium 90).
The Liturgy of the Hours Ministry prays Vespers and Compline (or Evening Prayer and Night Prayer) daily at our residential common room, as well as Morning prayer before Mass on Sunday. Members will learn how to use a breviary, how to chant hymns, canticles, and prayers, and help foster a culture of communal prayer on campus.
