Newsies
Acting Practicum from Matthew Rechen
Based on the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899, Newsies is a high-energy, heart-filled musical about courage, unity, and standing up for justice. Directed by JPCatholic alum Donovan Bakin, choreographed by fellow alum Timothy Battle, and starring Matthew Rechen and Grace Taylor, this student-led production invites the entire Escondido community to take part. With local business partnerships and wide community involvement, Newsies will be a shared celebration of the arts, storytelling, and unity.

JPCatholic Theatre Productions proudly presents Little Women as our summer production! This musical brings Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel to life, following the March sisters as they navigate love, loss, and the journey to find their voices during the Civil War era. With heartfelt songs and timeless themes, it’s a poignant celebration of family, ambition, and resilience.
