Dr. Samuel Keyes Joins Theology Faculty
July 10, 2019
JPCatholic welcomes Dr. Samuel Keyes as a Professor of Theology this Summer quarter. Sam, who is a recent convert to Catholicism and is currently in formation for the priesthood through the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter created by Pope Benedict XVI, comes to JPCatholic from Maryland with his wife and three children after almost a decade’s work as an Anglican minister and school chaplain.
Dr. Keyes brings an impressive resume with him, having received his M. Div. from Duke Divinity School and his PhD in Theology from Boston College. Although his academic specialties include liturgy, church history, and medieval theology, he also has an avid interest in the relationship between theology and pop culture, which attracted him strongly to the school’s mission and also made him an ideal candidate for the position, says department chair Steve Kramp.
