Below is a sampling of companies and studios our students have interned for during their time at JPCatholic, including the L.A. Quarter:
The Los Angeles Quarter takes place in the Fall Quarter, and the curriculum is designed for students in these degree programs: Communications Media and Visual Arts. If you are in a different degree and wish to apply, please meet with the Registrar and your Program Chair to discuss the LA Quarter curriculum and how it fits in with your academic plan.
To qualify for the program, students should:
Internship discernment begins early on with a system of academic mentors as preparation for the L.A. Quarter begins. You work with your faculty mentor and career services to identify and secure the right internship for you.
The L.A. Quarter consists of two for-credit experiences:
If you are a current student, you’ll normally supplement these courses with additional coursework on campus in Escondido (required if you want to maintain a full course load).
If you are a recent alumni, participation in the L.A. Quarter enrolls you in a special certificate program that enables you to continue your student status after graduation and take advantage of a wider array of internships.
JPCatholic does not provide housing for the LA. Quarter, but can provide resources for participants in identifying the most ideal locations for their situations. If you are a recent alumni, we will facilitate your networking with other participants in this program., so that you can potentially find suitable housing together.
If you are a current student, you will normally continue living on-campus in Escondido, commuting up to L.A. for the Behind the Scenes and Internship experiences. You should work with the Registrar to craft the most amenable schedule to facilitate this experience.
Please note: Details of the L.A. Quarter are subject to change from year to year.
