JPCatholic Day & Scholarship Gala 2022
May 25, 2022
Last weekend, we welcomed alumni, parents, and benefactors to campus for our inaugural JPCatholic Day to celebrate faculty and student accomplishments. Over 150 people attended the event which included breakout sessions on various academic programs, an alumni lunch, Mass, and a keynote talk from President Derry Connolly.
Attendees at the cinematic arts breakout were able to see preview footage of Prof. Scoggin’s upcoming feature film What Remains, which nearly 20 alumni and students worked on last fall. The visual arts breakout showcased a demo of the motion capture technology students are learning in the Virtual Production classes. Other highlights included a theatre showcase with various scenes and musical performances, humanities presentations, and a business student panel.
At the Scholarship Gala that evening, benefactors enjoyed dinner at Vintana Wine & Dine, with student entertainment including singing, dancing, and art demonstrations. All funds raised from ticket sales support the Student Scholarship Fund - the event raised over $100,000.
“We are so grateful to our generous benefactors”, said Dr. Connolly. “Thank you to everyone who is supporting our students in their mission to impact culture for Christ.”
Three alumni were recognized at the gala for their achievements since graduation:
Alumni Achievement Award: Visual Arts
Angie Lopez, Class of 2018
Alumni Achievement Award: Business
Kit Fach, Class of 2017
Alumni Achievement Award: Cinematic Arts Award
Maggie Mahrt, Class of 2010
Mahrt will be directing the inaugural film in JPCatholic’s Feature Film Program, O, Brawling Love! The film enters production next week.
