Resources for Free Textbooks

JPCatholic’s Library offers two resources for students to help save money on textbook purchases.

Give Away Textbook Program

Graduating seniors (or any students) can donate their used books to JPCatholic’s library. Excess materials not needed for the library are offered for free to other students on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • These books are used, and may be written in, highlighted, or have other signs of wear.
  • Students are limited to claiming one copy of a specific book.
  • Books claimed through this program do not need to be returned; they are the student’s to keep.
  • To request a book, please review the list linked below, and email Melanie Quinn: mquinn@jpcatholic.edu

Please check back soon for the list of available books! The updated list will be published in mid-September 2024.

Course Reserve Bookshelf

The Course Reserves consist of required and supplementary resources for current courses. At the beginning of each quarter, the Librarian compiles the Course Reserve Bookshelf containing textbooks for classes being offered that term.

  • One copy of each textbook for the quarter is normally available; if the Library does not yet own a copy of a textbook that’s listed as a required material, it will usually purchase it (exceptions include digital resources or consumable resources like a workbook).
  • These books are library books that are meant to be used in the library only. They are not allowed to be taken out of the Academic Building.
  • A list of Course Reserve books can be found at the link below.
