Recognized by the Newman Guide as a Faithfully Catholic College

Each year the Cardinal Newman Society publishes a list of recommended Catholic colleges based on each school’s commitment to a faithful Catholic education. John Paul the Great Catholic University is proud to have been consistently featured in the Newman Guide year after year.

We seek to provide a spiritually enriching campus environment where students can grow in their faith through the sacraments, service projects, and our theology core curriculum. Students learn about Christ based on sacred Scripture, sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. All Theology faculty require a mandatum from the Bishop of San Diego, which documents the professor's commitment and responsibility to teach authentic Catholic doctrine.

Our Catholic identity also informs our campus culture and student life policies. It is manifested in our honor code to “love in action and truth”, our code of student conduct, and our intervisitation policies at the residence units. We are committed not only to preparing students for their careers, but also to providing them with a learning environment that fosters authentic community and growth in virtue.
